On April 25, 2020 at 4:41 p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Union City Fire Department, Union City Rescue Squad were dispatched to Beamsville Union City Road in the area of Hillgrove Ft. Recovery Road. The initial call was thought to be a fatal motorcycle accident. The Darke County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the scene after first responders learned that the subject was deceased.
The investigation revealed that John Fields (63), of Union City Ohio, was riding his motorcycle in the area. Mr. Fields had stopped the vehicle at some point and based on scene observation by Deputies and a Coroner’s office investigator it appeared that Mr. Fields had suffered a medical event. Doctor Timothy Kathman, Darke County Coroner, has ruled this death due to natural causes.
