State Rep Dick Adams to speak in Greenville Saturday

Dick Adams will be speaking at the Fairlawn Restaurant in Greenville this Saturday morning, March 21, at 8:00 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Darke County Republican Men's Club (light breakfast = $4).

Adams is serving his first term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He represents the 79th House District, which includes Miami County and portions of Darke County.

Representative Adams comes to the Ohio House as a current member of the Unity National Bank Board of Directors. He previously served two terms as Miami County Commissioner. Representative Adams has a long history as an educator, having served as a high school agriculture instructor for Northwestern High School, vice president of Clark State Community College and founding superintendent of the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School District.

An active participant in community activities and organizations, Representative Adams has served on numerous professional, community and church boards. Most notably, he served as chairman of the National Association of Community College Trustees Board and as president of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges Board. He has been a trustee for Edison Community College for 18 years, acting as chairman for three years. He currently serves as the chairman of the Miami County Republican Party Central Committee.

For his notable work in the community and as an educator, Representative Adams has received many awards including the Ohio Outstanding Administrator Award from the Ohio Vocational Association, and the Citizenship Award for Distinguished Service to Humanity from The Ohio State Alumni Association. He was named Distinguished Alumni by The Ohio State University College of Agriculture and named Distinguished Citizen of Troy by the Troy Area Chamber of Commerce.

Representative Adams holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from The Ohio State University in Agricultural Education and Education Administration. He and his wife Sandy live in Troy and have three children: Julie, Rick and Christian.
