Farm Safety 4 Just Kids - at the Darke County Fair

The Darke County Chapter of Farm Safety 4 Just Kids will have a booth at the Darke County Fair beginning Aug 21-29. The chapter had its first fair booth during the 2008 fair, and was a huge success with lots of activities and visitors to the tent. The tent will be in the same location as last year, across from the pony rides and the township trustee tent, and right next to the Stewart/Campbell’s seed tent.

The chapter plans to have safety sessions starting on the first Saturday of the fair at 2:00pm. Topics for these sessions include ATV Safety, Tractor Safety, Buckle Up for Safety, 911 Emergency Calls, just to name a few topics. Along with the safety sessions there will be ongoing activities such as “grain wagon and grain bin safety,” “fun in the sun safety,” and many more. Each day they will have a coloring contest with a daily prize, and a weekly grand prize. There will be daily drawing for kids and parents/grandparents and lots of prizes, educational hand outs, or just a place to stop and rest. Also there will be a complete farm display depicting the many farm dangers and hidden hazards on the farm.

They are very pleased with all the many volunteers that will help bring the message of kid safety to the Darke County Fair. They are asking parents to bring their children to the booth to participate in the daily activities. It does not matter if you live on a farm, city or suburbs, there will be safety activities for everyone.
