Homicide Victim, Jeanne Marie Melville, To Be Returned To Green Bay, Wisconsin

Today, August 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM Darke County Cold Case Investigators will exhume 1970 homicide victim Jeanne Marie Melville one last time. As you may recall Jeanne Marie Melville was recently identified through the use of DNA technology. Jeanne Marie Melville had gone unidentified for over 38 years after becoming the victim of a homicide in Darke County in 1970.

The family of Jeanne Marie Melville has decided to have her remains exhumed and returned to her home and relatives in Green Bay, WI. The body of Jeanne Marie Melville will be transported to a local funeral home to be cremated. On August 13, 2009 Melville’s remains will be transported to Green Bay, WI by Darke County Cold Case Investigators. Investigators will also use this time to follow up with family members and detectives. While her identity is no longer a mystery, her murder remains unsolved and is actively being investigated.

In order to reduce the expense to Melville’s family, local businesses and community members have provided their services free of charge or at a reduced rate in order to return Jeanne Marie Melville to her home. These include Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home, Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home/ Oakwood Crematory and the Greenville Township Trustees.
