9/11 ceremony at the Darke County Courthouse

A solemn and well-attended service was held at noon today (at the Darke County Courthouse) in remembrance of 9/11. Beverly Marker presided over the service, with State Representative Richard Adams as the featured speaker. Earlier in the day, Greenville's church bells tolled at 8:46 a.m. and 9:02 a.m.

  1. just a random question: why did Mrs. Marker lead it? Don't think she works for the county anymore.

  2. She is a paid member of the Board of Elections.

  3. This event was billed as being sponsored by the local Republican Party (not the county). I did not include that disclaimer on DarkeJournal because I don't see a 9-11 commemoration as a partisan thing, and I especially didn't want to deter any democrats. But anyway - it appears the thing was organized by the local Republicans (thank you), and Mrs. Marker is definitely a Republican.

And I don't know why any of that matters. Anybody who loves America could be the emcee as far as I'm concerned.
