  1. What a terrific asset for Darke county-----and the additional jobs will help.

  2. There have been many complaints about Wayne Hospital for years. It's a great new facility, but if things are the same, people are still going to go to Dayton. They need to attract good, young doctors who will stay around and make this their community.

  3. Looks nice, but I would of thought they would of tried to match the new to the old a little better… We are lucky to have this hospital in our community, but I do not understand why most of the Family Doctors can’t even see their patients anymore?

  4. To be honest I think the unless the ergonomics and design of the building are beyond words the architect should be ashamed of himself... Its a hideous building on its own, but then when you figure its supposed to partner the original building... Oh don't even go there... Definitely not the mastery of ascetics...

  5. Yeah, why don't family doctors see their patients at the hospital anymore? Is this a hospital policy or is it a doctor/Family Health thing?

  6. People always have to complain about everything all the time. Cant please anyone anymore. Especially the comment above me. "Ooohhhh, its soooooo hideous!! Get over it. Lets see how much you complain when you need them some day. You'll forget about what the outside looks like. A shout out to Barb comment. Way to go Barb, that being positive. Seacrest Out!!!

  7. More and more businesses are going this route to let in more natural light, it's called going green, Unfortunately when you add the glass like this it really increases the cost of the project.

  8. Just saying the ascetics are pretty bad... A hospital should be warm and comforting not a sterile blob of concert... It would fit right in with some communist style apartment blocs... Maybe they will turn it around with some landscaping...

Oh and by the way, if I were there for an extended period for some reason, and the inside were as bleak as the outside I would complain... Its been found in several different studies that a visually stimulating environment is a good thing...

  9. This is an incredible addition to Wayne Hospital-

Asthetics aside, I am seriously concerned that once it is operational, will there actually be enough staff to encompass this building? Or, will we be walking the halls without a nurse or doctor in sight?

  10. I agree with a previous post unless the hosptial does something ... it will be just another unused building in the City of Greenville thats going to cost how much to operate - ?. A new building does not change the quality.

  11. I agree with the last two comments above mine. Unless there is adequate staff & doctors, there will be no need for the expansion and we will have another empty building. My bad experiences outweigh the good at this hospital, so the brand new building means nothing if there are no competent doctors & staff to fill it...

  12. Unless they change the way they do things, the whole thing will be pointless. The quality of care isn't exactly the best, that's why so many choose other hospitals.

  13. The hospital board has this well planned. The need for the addition is limited and cramped spaces. The ER is too small in every respect. The new ER will have more rooms with walls dividing patients instead of curtains and a larger area for the nurses, techs, doctors, and clerks.

The hospital is expanding radiology by adding a second CT scanner and their first in-house MRI. They are also improving ultrasound and digital mammography capabilities. Eventually they want to add a 64-slice CT and a PET scanner.

I believe there will be some new surgery suites, additional patient rooms and existing conversation from shared to private, and a larger 3 story lobby. Long staffless hallways of patient rooms this addition is not.

As far as family doctors seeing patients, this is changing everywhere, not just Wayne. At MOST hospitals, a physician specialist called a hospitalist sees inpatients. Family doctors have families themselves they want to spend time with, large patient loads, and are faced with constant challenges like increased malpractice insurance premiums and lower insurance payments for their services. Quite frankly anyone smart enough to become a physician could enter another profession with less education and make more money. I understand people have a comfort level with their family doctor, and they are still involved in their care, but visiting the hospital is simply becoming too difficult for most.

  14. I find it very frusterating that people complain about Wayne Hospital. Yes, I know that there have been bad expieriences, but that is EVERY hospital, NOT just Wayne. There have many, may good things that happen at Wayne. The staff that work there are VERY competant and have every bit as much training as staff that work at a larger hospitals, if not more at times. The biggest problem is the lack of doctors and the lack of services they offer. That is simply because it is a small rural hospital. You can not have every service at every hospital. You can not be experts in every field of medicine. It is too hard (which is the same reason firefighters should not do EMS). I understand that there are always a few bad apples in every bunch, but overall the care they provide is very compassionate and good. If you go to an ER in Dayton you usually wait a minimum of 3-4 hours to get in. At Wayne, if people wait 1, you would think it is the end of the world. I don't think people realize that there might be someone that is more sick than them.

  15. For a city the size of Greenville, we are very lucky to have Wayne Hospital. As far as the Aesthetics of the new addition I think they could have done a better job tying the old into the new. I hear people complain about the care given, however all of my experiences have been good. We need to support Wayne Hospital and all local businesses whenever it is possible, which is how our community will sustain jobs in the area and also attract new jobs.

  16. can have new equipment and scanners when wayne hosp charges 300.00 down payment to have your testing done...how fair is that...how is that going to bring business when i can go to dayton hosp for free...who has 300.00 lying around to pay for a much needed emergent test?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Down payments are based on your insurance plan. If insurance pays 100% (as part of the policy, or because the deductible has been met) then Wayne has no need to pre-collect payment. An average insurance plan may be 80%/20% co-insurance, which means the person is responsible for 20% of the bill. To say that Wayne precollects $300 from every patient for every test just isn't accurate. Perhaps your Dayton hospital is "in network" or a "preferred provider" for your insurance plan whereas Wayne is not.

Please keep in mind that Wayne is a non-profit hospital. Fees go toward the cost of providing those services, paying the staff, etc. The money isn't making anyone rich. They cannot give away medical care, but their fees are reasonable and customary. (Relatively speaking...medical care is expensive, no arguements there.)

As far as not having $300, you walk a very dangerous tight rope. I would suggest setting aside a little of your paycheck every week into a separate account for emergencies. The recommended "emergency savings" is now up to 4 months wages. Granted, I know this is a very hard thing to do, and I cannot claim myself to have that much cash on hand. However you can be darn sure I have enough to cover an extensive vehicle repair and the deductible on my health insurance. It just takes discipline to take a little off the top every pay check and to not touch that money, no matter how tempting it may be to use it for something else.

  18. well to commit back to 9/25/09 4:57 pm, i know for a fact wayne charges 300.00 for mri's cause i schedule them and that is what im told to tell the patient!!!! also don't be critical of me not having the money to pay for my test cause i assure you i do and i have great insurance and flex spending acct....but face it the majority of greenville would not have that kind of money....medicaid pts get all kinds of test on our expense but me who pays my insurance cant get a mri cause my insurance doesn't deem it necessary???? wheres the fairness in this!!!!!! medicaid ppl don't have to put the 300.00 down but i do!!!! is that fair?????? all im saying is I know wayne is charging this amount, ppl like me can get my eob back and I can be reimbursed by my flex spending w/o touching my own savings acct or taking away from my grocery's just to have a test done. so i am made to pay up front that may not be in the budget meanwhile waiting 4-6 wks to mail in my claims and attempt to get my money back....i'm saying by going to dayton ppl wouldn't have to decide if we eat or i get a much needed test...what would you do in this situation, you and i are fortunate to be able to afford our healthcare, and not have to make that decision but most of greenville who might not be so fortunate...think about it.

  19. how much does an MRI cost? total Cost?

  20. Per the price list on Wayne's website:

Lumbar, any joint, brain, or cervical - $1,819
Brain with and without contrast - $2,466

(I imagine they may offer discounts to patients without insurance, but it doesn't say that specifically.)
