MVCTC Adult Education Open House Scheduled

Attention Job Seekers, are you considering a career change? If so, learn more about the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) training available to fill current job openings, by attending the Adult Education Open House on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. in the new Adult Education Building located at 6801 Hoke Road, Clayton, Ohio 45373.

The Open House will be a chance to tour the new Adult Education Building at MVCTC and to learn more about programs offered in Health Occupations, Public Safety, Industrial Trades, and Construction Trades. In order to meet the demands of the workforce MVCTC has added new programs for the coming year including:

  • Dental Assisting, a 45-week full-time program starting new classes in March of 2010. Successful students are eligible to take the Ohio Certification Exam for Dental Assisting (CODA).
  • Optometric Technician, a 48-Week full-time program teaching the skills necessary to assist an optometrist. A person in this position would assist in testing patients’ vision, providing frame styling services, and instructing patients in contact lens handling.
  • Central Services Technician, an 11-week, short-term program. This class provides the student with the knowledge and skills to function as an effective Central Service Processing Technician. Job duties could include cleaning/decontaminating supplies & equipment, cleaning/caring for equipment, and packaging/sterilization of instruments. Students successfully completing this course may sit for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam.

MVCTC also offers financial aid opportunities for those who qualify, and if you are one of those affected by the closings of GM, Delphi or DHL then you are likely to be eligible for dislocated worker funds.
