  1. It is a shame that more people will be losing their job; however, I won't miss the place.

  2. I've never been in there and I don't know why not.

  3. They really need a decent restuarant. Maybe golden corral. Ryans would have been a first choice, but they closed as well.

  4. Rumor has it that McDonals bought the old Taco Bell lot.

  9. They had a good run, but this economy stinks and it's time to cut their losses.

  11. It's a shame... I'm afraid we're going to see more businesses’ closing before the government gets done with everyone...

  12. Use some forethought. The facility should be built with a sally-port. Patrons could be shuttled to and from in vehicles with blackened windows (approved by the local cops, of course). In this manner the self-righteous and local pillars could patronize and spend their money without fear of recriminations.

  13. How about a Der Dutchman like Plain city has? good German food and a neat bakery.

  14. It's a shame to the employees and the area for the loss of jobs. However, it is past due. It is not unlike 99% of the food businesses in this town. No effort to keep it clean, no effort to care for the customers, no promotion, no respect for the customers, and no sense of providing a value for the consumer.

  15. WHAT? I know several "regulars" who will be upset, but really... is anyone surprised by this? They should turn that lot into a mini plaza with a check cashing place, liquor store, and strip club.

    Fast $$$!!!

  17. Growing up Ponderosa was always a affordable nice place to eat with good food. As I have grown up the quality of their food has went down, and the price up. I was recently there in June and highly dis-satisfied and have not been back. Sad for the people loosing their jobs, but I am not completely surprised by the announcement.

  18. 8:37 a.m. pretty much hit it on the head. All too many franchise restaurants in Greenville show little concern about their patrons. I have had decent success with Bob Evans, but even there I am sometimes met with waitresses that would prefer to chat in the kitchen than tend to a customer. I won't even return to CJ's due to repeated bad experiences with every facet of their operation. Darke County certainly doesn't need to be losing any more jobs and I feel bad for those persons losing theirs, but some places you can understand why they are closing.

  20. Greenville really needs a GOOD sit-down place that would be run by a "cahin" that teaches customer service, cleanliness.... oh, and good food. Ponderosa=crap.

  21. Greenville would do well with a nice healthy resturant. Salads are becoming extinct in our County. That is why the people in our County are in poor health and overweight. But that is the trend in the Mid-west

  22. Longfellows has excellent food and not to bad on prices either.

  23. I liked how the Advocate mentioned that it did not have word if the employees in Greenville would be offered work at "near-by" Ponderosa locations. The two nearest ones are in Englewood and Portland, Indiana ... who could afford to drive that far for minimum wage?

  24. That's "pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps!"

  25. Greenville needs to bring a Bufflo Wings and Rings to this town... that place is ALOT better then a bduds!!!! ( there is a wings and ring sin Richmond if anyone wants to know, its cheaper, better food, and not has loud for those who don't like loudness) Try it out!

  26. Greenville needs something besides somewhere to eat. We need GOOD BIG business. I have heard that companies have looked at this area and been shoved away by the city. This town will not get any better unless we get something above min. wage job.

  27. Until there is a liquor permit available there will be no Applebees, BW3, or nay other food place that sells alcohol. As for the salad thing, I do believe that in just about any food joint in the county that there are salads availble for the health minded person, people just choose not to eat salads.

  28. I vote for gambling and strip club. It would bring employment and $ to Greenville.
