TWO INJURED IN CAR VS. TRACTOR CRASH

On October 29th, 2009 at approximately 7:33 PM, Darke County Deputies, along with Greenville Township Area Rescue and Greenville Township Fire Department, were dispatched to US Route 127 just South of Kruckeberg Road in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.

A preliminary investigation revealed a John Deere Tractor pulling a grain cart, driven by David M. Fourman, 41, was traveling Southbound on US Route 127 when a blue Chevy Pick-up, driven by Garry L. Flatter, 60, struck the rear tire of the grain cart. Flatter's vehicle drove off the left side of the road, rolling onto the driver's side and coming to a rest in the median.

Flatter and Fourman were transported to Wayne Hospital by Greenville Township Area Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.

Motorists are reminded that it is harvest season and to be aware of slow moving farm equipment on Darke County roadways.

This accident remains under investigation. [DCSO press release]

  1. Too bad, glad that both were OK. That being said, I can't stand the way people drive around this county. The farmers work hard to provide food, and drivers get mad when they're out on the road getting their food to market.Slow down and watch, people.

  7. You people are some of the most heartless, pathetic people around. What has this county come to? This is a thread about an accident where people were hurt and property was damaged and all you can do is talk about an unrelated political agenda. Both sides need to grow up and post your political comments in the proper forum and show some respect to those in the accident. DJ, maybe it is time to shut this thread down and open another so these people can rant somewhere else.

  8. 5:52... you missed the point. People are voicing their vote yes on 2 opinion here because it was a farm related accident. If people vote no..... there will be no equipment on the road taking OUR FOOD to market.

  9. I hope both parties are O.K., a lot of drivers treat the divided portion of 127 as if it were 65 MPH when it is in fact 55 MPH, PAY ATTENTION OUT THERE and slow down and don't drive 70 MPH just because it is divided, you also don't seem to realize the closure speed when you are doing 70 and the tractor is doing 20.

  10. I saw the point. I also understand the politics involved and the reasoning behind the posts. But, IMHO, this is not the place. Only one person voiced concern for those injured in the accident. This article was about an accident not politics. Yes it involved farm machinery, but my guess is people were not thinking like you they just saw the word farm and found a good place to post their political agenda. That, again IMHO, shows an overwelming amount of ignorance and a decline in the morals of modern society.

I don't believe anyone posting here has any ill will towards those involved in the accident. If you have ever been involved in a conversation, you know other things are brought up as it goes on. I don't believe anyone here needs you to be their moral compass.

You would be amazed at how many conversations I have been involved in on this site, and know how "other things are brought up as the conversation goes on." However this conversation started right up with politics, not caring.

I am not trying to be anybody's moral compass. I am just pointing out what I saw an felt. Like you said, "you know how other things are brought up as it goes on."
