How about some feedback?

What do you like about this website? What don't you like? What would you like to see more or less of? Any new ideas? Help out with some constructive criticism.

  1. I enjoyed this website before the filtering occurred. I would like less bias and more facts.

  2. I love the website - I have a lot of family out of town that I have sent this website to. It is a way for them to stay in touch and to see what is happening. The only thing I don't like is the comments from people that are nasty and mean! I would filter more!

  3. After checking e-mail and local newspapers on line, this is the next site I visit in the morning. I think it is a welcome addition to my web-surfing and I believe more people are discovering it.

I commend your efforts toward always looking for improvements and suggestions from your readers.

  4. Without question this website is the best way for Darke Countians living out of the county, and the state for that matter, to stay connected and stay in touch with what is happening back home. Thanks for the wonderful service you provide to all people who call Darke County home. It is the only way to truly know what is going on.

  5. Being out of town, I love it. The Advocate is too slow to the punch on too much and the DDN doesn't cover Darke County much unless there is something serious happening. Some of the random advertisements for Holiday Bazaar's and street fairs and such are annoying, but as long as you make up for it by ridiculing Obama, all is well.

  6. Why not put a spell check on this site since so many people are cocerned about it.

  7. Ridicule Obama, was you crying for for a head to roll as much when it was that idiotic chimpanze acting GW Bush that was in the pres seat.

  8. I would like to see more of what is going on in local govt. I have been in on commissioners sessions, and there is things the public doesn't know and the advocate picks and chooses what not to print. I guess when it is your paper you get that right.

  9. Now I kind of like the advertisements for the holiday bazaar's and such. I think this site keeps people in the loop socially, politically, and personally. I don't even bother looking at the Daily Advocate site anymore since they are so slow and sloppy on news reporting. I can't really think of any real constructive criticism to offer. Although my morbid curiosity wants to know what you have censored DJ, I understand that this is your site and you can, and should, do with it as you like.

  10. I love this site. Free agendas, with news about the county. Like anything else, if you don't like it...then don't come here! Pretty simple in my mind, but them again I am just a simple person living a good life in a country that I love. Keep up the good work!
By the way... poll in an article on the DDN webpage. 84% of the people online disapprove of the job the president is doing at the moment.

  11. I think this site is going well. In regards to filtering, to my knowledge DJ has only filtered offensive things or things that are trivial, personal, without backing information. I believe he has also openly suggested people with real information that isn't hearsay to provide proof for outrageous claims. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I think the site needs to just keep going in the direction it is. Let it grow a little bit as is before making any big changes. The advocate is starting to sort of catch upin the webspace, but their site is cumbersome/convoluted (you'll want to avoid that happening to yours, keep it clean and well organized).

Mainly, allow free, rational discussion. I'd avoid bashing either political party, but stick to just presenting information. I think I find the value in this site the information, not the opinions (although there are times where it is nice to read someone else's perspective on things).

Also, dukeblack, download firefox, it has a built in spell check feature.

  12. This site has quickly become a great way to get information about what is going on in Darke County. There is a lot of great discussion. Unfortunately there are also people talking out of their backsides, posting their opinion as fact, and being too quick to jump to the conclusion that everything is a scam, corrupt, a personal agenda, etc. On the whole though, the discussion is the best part about the site.

Darke Journal sure beats the Daily Advocate, especially if we go "blog for blog". The DA blog is horrible and has more posts about what someone ate for lunch and comic book heros than it does news or interesting content. Discussion there is almost non-existant. DJ generally does a better job of getting out of Greenville. Approximately 76% of Darke County's population lives outside the city limits of Greenville.

Local news should remain the focus, but I like that you throw in some state, national, and sports news as well as stuff that is just plain entertaining.

If anything, I'd simply like to see more. Your time is of course limited and I'm sure the advertisements don't generate much revenue. I would suggest getting a little help from a few select people to bring in more content.

  13. I really enjoy this site. One thing I would like to see is maybe some coverage of some accademic achievements or activities from local schools. I like seeing the sports coverage but, would also like to see what is happening around the county in classrooms of all grade levels. It seems we hear so many bad things about kids today, I would like to hear about the good things. Thanks for what you do.

  14. Always a great site DJ.

  15. DarkeJournal dramatically expands the benefits of the constitutional rights covering freedom of speech and freedom of press. Up until the 21st century such expression was markedly constrained by the cumbersome limitations of communications in newspapers that are slow, sometimes selective and thus allowed falsehoods to be promulgated without rebuttal.
A loss of the website would throw us back into the 19th and 20th century in our communications and therefore would be a loss to the community and to the country as a whole

  17. I like the fact that, despite it being an obvious republican minded site, I can speak my mind as a democrat and it's not censored. Refuted, but not ridiculed.

  18. I really enjoy DJ.....its subtle sophistication in the middle of western Ohio farm country proves we're not a bunch of down-home hicks...that we "get it," and have actually "had it" for quite a while. I appreciate the links to current news happening outside Darke County...and the fact you seem to recognize, unlike the DA, that there IS news beyond our county borders. Keep up the great work; I'm excited to witness your evolution.

  19. I'd like to suggest that you eliminate "Anonymous" as a profile and require some sort of screen ID. When 12 different people are posting as "Anonymous" it's hard to tell who is posting what. Also, under the Headlines I'd prefer to see actual news, not opinion.

  20. Hey, as a woman, how about less sports stuff? Some is okay, but I'd rather hear some local opinions!

  21. Barbie:

I think you are going to get local opinions on sports stuff.
