  1. Where is John Boehner's Darke County chairperson? No comments about this challenger? Okay, then---I'll defend Mr. Boehner. He does not do "earmarks" none of the members of congress should do them. He is dignified, and represents our values. He needs to be "Mr. Speaker".

  2. I am tired. I am tired of John Boehner running thru his stock phrases, all of the above, tort reform, tax cuts etc. He spends more time complaining about the Democrats and offers up only the same proposals from the past 10 years. It is time for Mr. Boehner to move on. I am a registered Republican!

  3. As a Repub I would be inclined to vote for him, the incumbents need to go.
Boehner does not represent the average Joe at all.
Instead of the non-stop criticizing of the dems flawed health care bill he should have offered a decent plan, the one they offered was a joke. We are getting killed by the non-stop rise in costs.

  4. Well, click on Mr. Schreyer's website, listen to him---- if you want to vote for this guy, then God help our state. And--- please use your name, don't hide behind "anonymous".

  5. What has Boehner done that has been any kind of help to the average citizen Barb?
    I can't think of much.

  6. Hi Barb, I am not hiding behind anything. Yes I watched Mr. Schreyer's videos and wondered what you found so offensive about him. Maybe because he isn't polished with a beautiful Washington DC tan? Maybe because he won't be walking around the floor of the house passing out tobacco settlement checks or free tire pressure gauges making fun of increasing fuel efficiency. There are a lot of things I agree with Congressman Boehner on. My point is all he does is whine that Republicans don't get invited to the Whitehouse or they are shut out of meetings. We Republicans did the same to them. My one and only point is ALL Incumbents need to go. They get elected to their committees, (more money in the pay check)then come home and tout what they did for us in Washington. As soon as they get to DC they get out of touch with us back in the trenches. Term limits!!!!!

  7. If you're old enough, you may remember the first time Boehner ran, saying he had no time for career politicians and would only serve a short time. 'Nuff said.

  8. Well it's nice that John Boehner and Barb take such a moral high ground over earmarks when we pay federal taxes to the system that get used by everyone else. We need help so bring some of the money back home when we need it. Boehner is happy to let the rest of congress have at our tax money while we go hungry.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Oh, come on---do any of you approve of 'bridges to nowhere" or millions for a ball field in NY ?---YOU are paying for that. Like it? Not me.
1:31 pm, if you are hungry---go to the food bank or get a job. We need to stop expecting the federal government to be our "Big Daddy"---show some gumption, take care of yourselves ! otherwise we'll all be on the government payroll and will vote for whoever is "in" out of fear; and be helpless when "they" order us around. What has happened to this country? Stand up and be men---or women!

  10. Barb. Barb. Barb. You must be a trust fund baby or have a great retirement. Do I approve of "bridges to nowhere?" Of course not, but right now, building that bridge means a paycheck to a lot of folks. I think your post is proof that so many have forgotten, or simply fail to see, that there are many, many "conservatives" and "liberals" out there who always showed "gumption" and taken care of themselves - no matter that most were/are always on the cusp - too much money to get any help (no dear, I'm not talking about food stamps and welfare, I'm talking about a college grant for the kid, a little help with a huge heating bill, some understanding with that hospital bill the insurance didn't pay). They have paid taxes all their lives and and now find themselves with a wage cut or no wage at all; a depleted retirement fund or no fund at all. Get a job? Really? Do they need to see if Greenville gets a new school before they can earn a wage here in the county? What has happened to this country? Good question, but your post doesn't really leave me with much hope. In short, your comments about going to the food bank or getting a job offended me. If that is how you and Boehner feel during these hard times, then goodbye Mr. Boehner.

  11. Here Here Anonymous. Dont let Barb goad you into revealing you name like she did me! The next proof in the pudding I offer to all readers comes from Mr. Boehner himself. Please go to the following site to read a letter from Mr Boehner to the President of the United States delivered in Dec. 09
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/24956204/GOP-No-Cost-Jobs-Letter-and-Plan-Presented-to-President-Obama
If the above does not work go to johnboehner.house.gov, click on his article" Boehner Statement on President Obama's Visit to Ohio" (read full story)then scroll down and click on the highlighted ‘no-cost jobs plan’ . I will not edit this for you, read it yourself and see why Mr. Boehner need to be replaced with a fresh thinking person. He is actually proud of this, and belives his way is the only way.

  12. Boehner hails the recent Supreme Court decision which will allow big business to have complete control of national and state politics. Finally, people can see who he really supports.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hurrah for Manfred. The only way Boehner could possibly be ousted is by another Republican. Apparently, he is not perceived as any threat or else he would have already been bought off.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Manfred certainly isn't a polished speaker, but is that grounds to not vote for the guy?
Boehner is now a Washington careerist that is now owned by big business and will represent their interests above all others.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well, "big business" and small business are the folks that hire workers. So, shall we drown businesses in taxes, enforce huge healthcare mandates and red tape? Go ahead--- if you don't want confidence in the economy, and want to keep the employment number deplorable. The Democrats have shown how that works.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I saw that Boehner was lauding the recent supreme court ruling on campaign contributions, Just whatI was talking about, he is owned by special interests Barb.
ANd those interests are not the average citizen.
How do you draw the conclusion that Manfred is going to "drown businesses in taxes"?
Boehner was lockstep with Bush in spending more and more of our tax dollars, never a complaint about the deficits then was there?

  17. guest #1:
I didn't say that this Manfred was going to do anything. I was addressing a critique of John Boehner supporting business, I'm glad he does ---we need businesses.

And if you are against free speech then ban ANYONE contributing to candidates you don't approve of. Want to ban Soros? How about Unions? Maybe ban the Sierra club?

    ReplyDelete
  18. You seem to go to extremes with your arguments, Who said anything about "banning" anything? I didn't.
Who is against free speech? again, not me.
As for Boehner "supporting business"? every politician supports business, but not every one is owned by them like Boehner is.
Do you have any logical arguments to support your position?

    ReplyDelete
  19. If contributions by corporations are BANNED that's a free speech issue.

What makes you think that Boehner is owned by business? In my opinion, I'd prefer business influence to Soros (socialist) or unions (socialists) neither of these entities create jobs.

  20. The problem with the GOP is that when they come calling on small business, talking about being pro-business, they're really saying, "We're pro multinational global business". They're not pro small business. If they were, they wouldn't be pursuing policies that hurt the middle class, which is the driving engine of our economy. I watched the new video on Schreyer's blog and he's very opposed to NAFTA.

  21. Choice is good.

Now will need to get educated and make a decision.

Barb, I think this is what the system is all about, is it not?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I watched the video of Meet Manfred. He talks with an accent because he was born and raised in Germany. Geesh, what bigotry there Barb.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Let me get this straight...we're supposed to oust John Boehner with a "RINO" named Manfred who doesn't support the basics of our platform...FREE TRADE?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, I second the point Choice is good! It is nice that we actually have another choice to Mr. Boehner. I am a registered Republican but have always voted my gut. If the Democrat's can't field a good choice and Mr. Schreyer does not work out then so be it. I again urge everyone to read Mr. Boehner's letter to the President and see if you think he is proposing anything new. The first three are nothing but smoke and mirrors.

    ReplyDelete
  25. How's that free trade working out for all your family members whose jobs have been sent overseas? Free trade isn't a basic of the Republican Platform when it involves trading with a nation that rules its citizens with a totalitarian fist. That's not free market economics. The government of China crushes liberty and freedom while the average worker is exploited with no freedom to speak against human rights abuses that none of us would ever tolerate. But the GOP makes it a basic platform to preach free trade because it makes for inexpensive goods to ship back here? Let me ask you? So you're saying that the present platform of the GOP is to hell with freedom and democracy for others who live under communism as long as we get our cheap stuff? That's not free trade, I am sorry. That the American people being complicit in exploiting the suffering of others around the world masked behind false pretenses of Adam Smith fundamentals. John Boehner represents global multinationals when he comes calling about pro-business, but I can assure you that he doesn't give a hoot about small business owners. If the GOP cared about middle America, they wouldn't be working so hard to destroy it. Let me remind all of my fellow small business owners that middle income families and other small businesses represent the lion's share of my customer base. When they're gone, that means your customers are gone.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "FREE TRADE"??
There was no "trade" to it, millions of our jobs have went to different countries, with little hope they will ever come back, I hope we don't make any more trades like that.
Ross Perot called it when they were debating NAFTA.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I for one like this Democrat Manfred fellow. He supports pork-barrel spending, is anti-free trade, voted for Obama and likes his health care plan. A win for Ohio progressives!

    ReplyDelete
  28. The last person to hammer on NAFTA in Ohio was Hillary Clinton. The Heritage Foundation would disagree with both Mr. Schreyer and Mrs. Clinton: http://www.heritage.org/Research/TradeandForeignAid/BG1462.cfm

Ohio has seen a net gain of 900,000 jobs thanks to NAFTA: http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/02/our-view-on-fre.html

Why does a Republican candidate want to take away something that has created jobs when unemployment is almost 11% in Ohio?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Did you read those stories you linked to Larry?
Here is one snippet from the USA link,
"NAFTA opponents point to the 2.4 million U.S. manufacturing jobs that have disappeared since NAFTA took effect in 1994, a drop of about 14%. In Ohio, site of Tuesday's hotly contested primary, manufacturing jobs are down by nearly 200,000, or 20%, during the same time."

The Heritage link is also biased against NAFTA.
If we have all these new jobs then why are som many people out of work? and consider that we are apparently losing people as well.
    Something doesn't add up.
