Formed in 2006 by longtime friends from Augusta, GA, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood and Nashville native Hillary Scott after a chance meeting at a downtown Music City watering hole, Lady Antebellum blend contemporary country with soulful '60s R&B into an infectious modern brew that relies on the trio's rich harmonies and impeccable instrumental skills. Since its inception, the trio has gone from dive bars to the Grand Ole Opry and opening for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood.

The group signed with Capitol Nashville in 2007 and released its first single, "Love Don't Live Here." Lady Antebellum's now platinum debut produced the No. 1 smash “I Run To You.”

At the 2009 CMA Awards “Lady A” received the award for Vocal Group of the Year (competing with the Eagles, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts and Zac Brown Band) as well as Single of the Year for “I Run To You.”

Lady Antebellum’s second album, NEED YOU NOW, hits stores January 26th and the band is scheduled to perform live at the GRAMMY Awards on January 31, 2010. The trio has been nominated for 2 GRAMMYS: “Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals” and “Best Country Song” for “I Run To You.”

Mark your calendars for this dynamic event that will feature the No. 1 hits “Need You Now” and “I Run To You” as well as “Lookin’ For A Good Time,” “Love Don’t Live Here” and many more.

[Note: the above is the official press release of the Darke County Fair. DJ comments: YES! This is great! No offense to Styx and the Beach Boys, but Lady Antebellum has actually had several great songs this century.]

  1. I have never heard of them before other than maybe seeing their CD at walmart or target or something. I didn't realize they were country (or what is played on country stations, anyway).

Yes, any band formed after i was born is probably an improvement (1984). I likely won't go, but the odds me going are way higher than to see Styxx or a gospel act.

  2. I know there is no way the fair board could possibly please everyone's taste. However, based upon the sucess of Styx and REO Speedwagon (highest ticket sales since the inception of the Sunday evening concert). One would think the fairboard had figured out what style of music people in this area would support. My vote is to bring back the classic rock era....

  3. The Fairboard is right on the money with this one even though they are country. They have got a new recording artist for the first time in a long while. As compaired to a group from 20 to 25 years ago. Preble County Fair seems to get the big acts it's about time Darke county steps up.

Lady Antebellum is happining now not 20 years ago.

I think this is Great to bring this kind of talent to Darke County.

  4. It's about time the Great Darke County Fair gets a current successful act! I agree with Tim if Preble County can get/afford top acts it's about time Darke County gets their act together!!

  5. To Curt's point, we'll see how this new act sells. If it is a down year, expect a solid flow of 70's/80's rock for the foreseeable future.

I'm not too interested in either, but i'm not really in the concert's demographic either.

  6. To Kurt and Curt....
This act WILL sell out and I predict it will do so in record time. Lady "A" is an awesome group as seen not only by their debut album going platinum but by their Grammy nominations and CMA (Vocal Group of the YEAR) award. Just look at some of the names they were competing against! Six years in a row winner Rascal Flatts and one of your "classics" the Eagles.

I agree with Tim, Darke County has finally stepped up and done what other surrounding counties have been doing for years. Great job Fair Board! I can't wait for the show!

  7. I have heard/recognized a couple of their songs, but had no idea who they were. I'm glad to see the fair get a current group, and I'm sure that it will be well attended. Perhaps the fair board could try for a "current" band on the even years, and a "classic" band on the odd years? That would probably manage to keep to keep everyone pleased from year to year.

  8. We need some AC/DC or Ozzy, now THAT would sell out in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Anonymous is RIGHT ON This will be the fastest they have sold out any show at the DCF- I predict that there will be very few if any tix still available to sell at the Box office on the 27th!
