Nominate a volunteer of the year

HandsOn West Central Ohio will celebrate the upcoming National Volunteer Week in April with community volunteer celebrations in Darke, Logan, Miami, and Shelby Counties. This year’s theme Celebrating People in Action is especially significant with the renewed impact of strong community volunteerism in challenging times.

Do you know a special person that exemplifies our “Be the Change” motto and volunteers in our communities? HandsOn West Central Ohio and Hits 105.5 invite you to nominate individuals who are changing our communities and making impacts through their volunteerism.

Nominate that special person by visiting the Hits 105.5 Web site at http://www.hits1055.com/ and click on the “Volunteer of the Year – nominate a volunteer”. Complete the nomination form by midnight on April 4th. Then return to the site to vote for your favorite nominee starting April 6th and ending April 16th.

There will be one winner selected in each county. The winners will be recognized during National Volunteer Week at community celebrations during mid April. They will be presented with a plaque, $20 worth of gifts from Bob Evans and a Hits 105.5 T-shirt.

The recognition dates are: April 20th at Romers Catering in Greenville; April 21st at A Learning Place in Piqua; April 22nd at the Green Hills Retirement Community in West Liberty; and April 23rd at the American Legion in Sidney. All celebrations will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch included. All guests will also receive a small token of appreciation.

If you would also like to attend one of these county-wide volunteer recognition events and celebrate the accomplishments of volunteers along with other organizations, just make your reservation by April 7th. Visit the Web site at www.handsonwestcentralohio.org/NationalVolunteerWeek.htm, complete the form and return with $12. Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) participants are encouraged to attend. RSVP volunteers attend free of charge, but reservations need to be made by April 7th.

Additional awards to be presented during the celebrations include Retired & Senior Volunteer Program Volunteer of the Year, the Corporate Good Citizen and Agency Partner of the Year for each county. One regional award, the Voice for Volunteering, will be presented to an outstanding member of the media who supports the efforts of volunteers in our region.
