Sweet One-O-One - now open

The Palace coffee shop is open once again - as Sweet One-O-One officially opened for business Monday morning. The interior is new and improved, with new furniture and an antique ice cream parlor bar. Get your coffee now -- and then when it hits 70 degrees later this week, Sweet One-O-One will have ice cream and milkshakes for you too. Later on a food menu will be added. Hours: Monday - Thursday 6:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; Sunday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

UPDATE: We've had many positive comments so far from those who have actually visited Sweet 101. There have been so many sales that Sweet 101 had to bring in a new shipment of coffee. [Heh. Assuming this is a kind-hearted gag, thanks to DD for the amusing photoshop]

  1. Anybody know the hours? I'll be sure to go try it today.

  2. Gotta go in to town later on - will give it a try and report my opinion back to 'ya all.

  3. Personally I refuse to step foot in that place.

  4. Yes - I know the talk that was going around when Broadway Joe's closed. I have learned some new info since then, and it has changed my perspective on things a lot.

I would encourage everybody to give Sweet 101 a fair chance. Stop in soon.

  5. I concur with DJ.

New information that has come out should change the negatives that someone may want to hold against 'sweet one-o-one'.

We should give this new establish an independent and fair chance to succeed.

  6. I don't even know the new information but in all fairness nobody knows the "other information" to be fact, so why try to put out a new business that you know nothing of.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Really nice... and I liked it much better than what Broadway Joes offered - price too. Give them a chance to succeed and never listen to heresay. I liked it very much.

  8. Stopped there this morning on my way to work. It was a very pleasant experience. Love what the new owners have done inside, a very relaxed, casual atmosphere. Definitely will be going back, probably more than I should.

  9. I must admit, the first impression is way better than Broadway Joes ever was. I hope they make it.

  10. Is anyone willing to share the "new information" that changed their perspectives? I'm willing to try any business in town, especially a mom and pop type. I heard the bad that was in favor of Joe's so I am just currious about the new info.

  11. I've heard two conflicting stories and I too would like to know the truth.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I have heard no stories, and I really don't give a rip. I stopped by this new place yesterday afternoon and gave it a try. It was busy, the staff friendly, the prices were reasonable, and most importantly - the coffee and pie that I had was better than good!
I agree with Mike, we would all be better not to listen to local gossip (be it truth or fiction), and just support a new place that is GOOD, and in my humble opinion, better than Broadway Joes was....

  13. After reading the comments here I decided to stop in this morning and give the place a try. They will be getting a little more of my money in the future....good place! Good luck to them.

  14. I have an issue with a business poaching another well established business b/c it could happen to any business uptown with the right connections. Feel free to enjoy the new place without a thought to a family, who gave alot to the community without asking for recognition or anything in return, losing their lively hood. I won't be going there.

  15. 9:21 ... I understand what you're saying, but I think you'd feel differently if you knew all the facts. I don't feel comfortable sharing what I know on a public forum, but I wil say this. I loved Broadway Joe's and I'm sad they're gone. I do not believe that the new business "poached" or did anything other than seek to establish a business when an opening came available. Maybe I'm wrong, but I am going to err on the side of supporting a business in my community.

  16. Competition is a BIG part of doing business without Competition were would we be. Im a business owner and have 3 or 4 competitors just in darke county but i do 70%-80% of my work outside this county. I to will help support a new business in my community.

  17. To 9:21: I don't know anything about this and I really do not care what did or did not happen. Business is business at ANY level and it happens everyday in cities and small towns across the world. Anyone who has owned their own business (as I do) knows that when opportunity is there-it must be taken, and sometimes it can be "ugly".
You should get over your bitterness and be happy that a new business has opened in Greenville and that people are supporting it. I frequented BJ's and it was fine. I did go to 101 yesterday....and did find it to be better than what BJ's had been.
You can choose not to go there and that's fine, but do not put down or encourage others not to frequent a new business because of your own personal issues ( or inability to understand how businesses/rent/patronship works). My first impression of 101 was excellent, and I will be a customer....just as was to BJ's.
I'm am happy to see that DJ has the thoughtfulness to look past his nose and support 101.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I sure wish someone would come out tell truth about BJ's was it that they were not paying their rent, not paying their bills or whatever it was so people would STFU about how great BJ's was. If they were so great they still would be in business. If their business was stolen from them, they could open at another location in town and all the people would follow correct?

  19. Very good, JK & Mike. Business is business and it isn't always pretty. People can or can't go to this new place if they choose. Personally, I like it very much (stopped by late this a.m.) and I hope that they make it fly. Glad that DJ is endorsing it.
    9:21 can stay away.........I'm sure that 101 won't miss his/her business anyway

    ReplyDelete
  20. Why does anyone need to know the truth?

If Broadway Joe's wants to come forth and say what happened, then they can do that on their own terms.

In the meantime, we have some local people trying to make a run at a new business. That's a good thing, and I feel that we should all support them because they are the business that is there - right now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Funny how people who claim there's "new information" won't say what it is.

    ReplyDelete
  22. And you won't even put a fake name on the point you're trying to make? So we're even.

The information is not a secret, but I'm not going to be the one to disseminate it either, as it is not news.

Go get yourself some coffee at Sweet 101.

  23. Broadway Joe's is gone, a new business is there now, and from what I have read here - people seem to like it better than Broadway Joe's. So, who cares about Broadway Joe's? DJ is right-if they have something to say, then say it or open up someplace else. In the meantime, enjoy 101!

  24. Can someone tell me what there store hours are?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh, come on. I like Terry but you're telling me no one is going to make a jackass joke when a picture like that is posted.

    ReplyDelete
  26. ok here we go in the pic can anyone tell me what one the Commissioner is? is it the one with big ears

    ReplyDelete
  27. haha. OK - you've had your fun with a quite easy joke! no more jokes about Terry being a democrat :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. this conv. is rediculas - you people are constantly complaining about the empty building and closed down establishments so go downtown and get yourself a flipping cup of coffee so we dont have another empty store front.

My family was in Tipp city the other evening enjoying their downtown commenting on traffic (walking) and people with packages and wait times at restaurants - why cant we have that - bc you people just gripe and complain instead of getting out their and spending your money to keep buisnesses here. And Local buisnesses at that. Forget whatever happened with bj's and dont let this place fail!!! Come on pitch in become a real community and support eachother instead of tearing others down.

DJ thanks for not sharing what everyone wants to know it's not your job or place. They can ask anyone on broadway and they will tell you why their is no more bj's and their is a new place their now.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ok...so I went in for myself, to form my own opinion. I was really not impressed. I think that they are high, just like Broadway Joe's, but I do prefer the way that BJ's decorated. I know that it is hard to start up a business and know everything right away....but I think that they could be in a little over their heads. I wish them luck but don't think it will be a place I frequent, when a scoop of ice cream costs $1.75.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'd hate to see you go into a Coldstone Creamery 4:06.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah, yes. Darke County. If it ain't all you can eat for $4.99, you can take it elsewhere. You can keep yer book learnin', too, Mr. Fancy Britches.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Simce you won't let me comment on the photo of Haworth and the ...er...animal, I'll just say "you get what you pay for" If it's good, it's worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you are going to run a business in downtown Greenville and you are profitable, make sure you own the building and or are an elected official.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If broadway Joes was such a profitable business, they would still be open at the current location, or they would have announced a new location, though that is not the case.
I have seen more people in Sweet 101 in the past 2 days than I have ever seen in BJ's.
$1.75 for ice cream? got to BTO- they can not even call it ice cream

    ReplyDelete
  35. any body know if they hang the artwork in there like they used to?

    ReplyDelete
  36. An updated lease was not offered or extended. Finding a new location to open a business is not as easy as one might think.

    ReplyDelete
  37. DJ don't you think you are leading your readers to the conclusion that BJ's had done something wrong even without saying so? That's low class my friend. Don't be such a pantywaist, if you have information that is so damning and you consider it to be fact, back it up! Your cheap writing style may make some think you are just some scumbag conservative lawyer…

    ReplyDelete
  38. Broadway Joe's didn't do anything wrong. And Sweet 101 definitely didn't do anything wrong.

That's all I have to say about it - although I was really, really tempted to reveal what I know after being called a pantywaist and scumbag :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nice Picture !!!! I wasn't aware that Terry had his picture taken with obama

  40. DJ
You get called a few names and decide the mature action would be to withhold news and information? Puppies have thicker skin than you. Or is it you have someone's best interest in mind?

    ReplyDelete
  41. No - I had information that I didn't think was worthy of putting on my website. And THEN I got called names.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Respectable DJ, this is a news site. Not a "gossip about businesses personal problems" site. I guess some people, I would name you but your afraid to use any sort of name, will go to any lengths and whine and cry to get their way.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is ridiculous, all I want to know is if they have good coffee and all I see is people complaining. I hope that if you like them you will frequent them and if you don't you will not belittle a new business. I don't care who owns it, or the circumstances as to how they came to acquire the space. If they did it in a shady way Karma will have a funny way of sneaking up on them. I hate also that Braodway Joes is gone, but I can't bring them back. So, if I want coffee I will go to Sweet 101.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well I haven't been there yet, can't wait to give them a try. BJ's is gone and theres nothing we can do about it. So lets just move on. We should support our local businesses especially those downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well I haven't been there yet, can't wait to give them a try..BJ's is gone and there is nothing we can do about it so lets move on. I will miss the employees from BJ's and wish them the best its a shame they couldn't keep some of them..We need to support our local businesses especially those downtown.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Amen Anonymous 3:47!!!! That says it all!
People need to get a life if all they worry about is gossip! Start worrying about supporting existing LOCAL business and helping to encourage new business to Greenville!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Who would ever guess a "coffee shop" would cause this much discussion! Wow some people do need to get a life!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I went to Sweet one O one last night and it was not good. For $3.75 + tax the chocolate milk shake was bad, and the service was also bad. Three women working "talking" and only two customers in line and I had to wait 7mins for a shake, very unprofessional and annoying. I gave them a try cause I like to support Greenville, but I am not going back, I will get my milk shakes from the Dairy Barn or McDonalds.

  49. Mcdonalds has better coffee. Plus I can brew my own for a fraction of what any coffee joint charges

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous 5:56, maybe you should give some constructive feedback to the new owners. They are a new business and will not do everything right; so I'm sure they would love to hear what they can do to make your experience at their establishment more enjoyable. Maybe try something else next time. McDonalds is not Greenville owned, please remember that. You can cook a meal for a fraction of the price of any restaurant in town, but people still go out to eat. You can wait a few months and rent the movie for 4 dollars also, but don't let that stop you from enjoying a night at the movie theater. Going out is a treat and should be viewed as that, not as how much less you can do it for at home.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mak,
Here is my constructive feedback. Make a cup of coffee that tastes good. Enough said. Enjoy your expensive crappachino, treat or whatever you call it.
