Coming soon: the Greenville Bar & Grill

As indicated by the sign in front of the Greenville Inn - evidently replacing El Camino Real.

  1. BBQ joint as advertised??

  2. Is this place the reason BW3's was denied? I'll try it....and it had better be a good "sit down" place. This community needs some better places to eat so that we don't have to drive to Troy and Miller Rd.

  3. good lord. no one said BW3's was denied.

In fact, i doubt any area in gville would meet BW3's qualifications:

it would be helpful if people didn't believe everything they hear without critically thinking these types of things through.

  4. I heard the owners are going to run the restaurant themselves....foreign cuisine not BBQ.

  5. buffalo wild wings would never come to this area. Noone has any money in this town, obvious by the way we expect the schools to operate as its the 1890's

  6. I also saw that Kurt. I work on Wagner and can see traffic all day. I don't count up to 25,000 but I'm sure we don't have that. Or the population requirements. Too many elderly (no offense, their requirements).

  7. Geez Kurt-settle down a little. You so often come across as such a "know-it-all" and are sometimes rude when you try to correct people. In other news.... what type of "foreign" cuisine? Would be nice to see this place make it, and above all, be a GOOD place to eat. However, I think that BBQ would be a better success than, say, Indian for example 'round these parts.

  8. cant wait for El Camino to open in their new location:) (old ponderosa building)

  9. Wow Kurt, you need to take a chill pill… I don’t even think you could talk to everyone, so you statement “good lord. no one said BW3's was denied” has to be a total guess?

  10. maybe i come across as rude, but i think i'm the opposite of 'know it all.' half the time i get short or annoyed is by people thinking they know things when they don't (things no one could know, especially people like me).

It just boggles me the amount of "opinions" people form around misinformation and the extent to which they let this misinformation shape their view of people and their community.

I don't think it is too much to ask for people to take a step back and think about things they only 'know' from second hand information. If there's a subject I'm not sure on, I'll acknowledge what i dont know, or in most cases, refrain from forming an opinion on the matter.

  11. Integrity -

anon at 804am stated an assumption which had not been reported or confirmed publicly. I was replying to their stating a rumor/hearsay as fact.

in fact, if BW3's were ever proposed and denied, it would likely have been denied by BW3s, not greenville.

  12. Again Kurt.... CHILL OUT. You are coming across very badly. Especailly with your second paragraph of 12:13. Gotta look in the mirror, buddy. Stay cool and stick to your general conversation - which you are very good at.

  13. The owner is putting in their own restaurant. Plain and simple. Not sure of the type of food yet. It is all in the works...

  14. OK everyone, chill out.....the only way of knowing for sure and I DO KNOW THIS FOR FACT, were not ALL morons, is to contact the local Health Department, they have to get all plans into their office and approve any and all plans before anything can openin Darke County.

  15. Someone made a good observation, if very few people in town can afford ten dollars a month in new taxes then the majority certainly can't afford to go and try a new restaurant out.

  16. My LORD....all this drama.....over a 'new' business coming to town?? Really???? I would think the prospect of a 'new business' period, would be an encouraging fact and not one open for scrutiny...ALREADY!!!!???

  17. Shut up kurt, you're a douchebag!

  18. Amazing intelligence on display here.

  19. Where's the monitoring, dj? Didn't you claim long ago you would not allow personal attacks? The one at 9:50 is totally uncalled for.

Sorry to break this to you folks but even if Kurt's a douchebag he's right. Greenville isn't going to turn down a BW3s - they are going to tun down us. I know that stung a little y'all but the truth often does.

And Guest #1 3:09 has a great point - by all the fervor and exasperation displayed by the majority of citizens during the last election what business in their right mind - especially one that would take a "Minimum of $750,000 per restaurant and a net worth per restaurant of $1.5 million." - would come to such an economically depressed area in which its citizens had no disposable income whatsoever.

  21. umm ... kurt is not a douchebag. i approved all the comments yesterday w/o looking because i was busy. oops.

  22. DJ.... read all of these comments again. Most have nothing to do with the fact that a new place is coming to the G'ville Inn.
A while back you posted a "story" about what people would like to see, or not see in the Darke Journal. Many of those who commented there made reference to not having a comment board for every story.
This should be the shining example.
Time to do some real tweeking on the comments.

  24. Has anyone heard that El Camino is having problems getting a liquor license at their new location? Apparently, the city thinks there are too many alcohol serving establishments/stores in the area and they do not want another. This is just a rumor that I heard about and I am wondering if anyone else heard it as well.

  25. When it was announced that ElCamino was changing it's location they mentioned that the opening is pending work to be done to the inside and the transfer of the liquor license. It will take time for all of the work to be done, Penderosa was in TERRIBLE shape before they closed. I would say that the liquor license will be approved long before the buliding is ready for opening day.

And, to get back to the subject of what we are supposed to be commenting on... I am excited to here that a new restaurant is opening in the old El Camino and will not sit empty. No matter what they have, we will be there to try it. (unless it's Chinese, I already have my favorite place for that.)

  26. Sorry MAK, it looks like you just wanted to get back in the pissing match. Sorry to ask a question that was not what we were "supposed to be commenting on." But thanks for your input anyway.

  28. at least you picked a good username Grumpy. I was not looking to get into a pissing match, just trying to get back to the subject of the new restaurant coming to town. Like I said, I think it's great!

  29. I am very happy to see new business in town as well. I was concerned that the city might run an old business out. That is why I asked the question I did. I just thought the question was along the same lines and it seemed that it, shall we say, bothered you by your comment. I guess I was wrong. I'm not grumpy all the time, just today I guess ;-)
