Greenville beats Wilmington 16-9 in first round of tournament
The Wave won a slugfest at GTI Field tonight pounding out 16 runs against Wilmington. Derek Kagey pitched for the Greenwave and picked up the win. Several Greenville players had good nights at the plate, including two homeruns each from Marc Shields and Darren Leis. It was Darren Leis' deep homerun to left field in the 6th inning that iced the game.

Hey did anyone notice that other area baseball and softball teams are doing really good this year. I would never guess it on this site. Hello, DJ its called DJ. not Greenville Journal. Let's show off all the good that our kids do.
Thank you for your anonymous criticism. I've said this about 100 times now, but here it is again: I am not the newspaper. I don't have a staff of 30 people. I actually have another job that occupies a lot of my time. Yet somehow I put a ton of stuff on this website, usually about 15 minutes after it happens. That's because it's a community website. People send stuff in for me to post.
Greenville softball got coverage this year because a fan sent me pictures a couple times. I have a friend on the Greenville baseball team, so I went to two games myself, which I would have attended even if I didn't have a website.
6:14, go get a camera and help make this site a little better. Go cover that team I'm ignoring. Or get the coach to email me a summary of the games.
