The Arcanum "Old Fashioned Days" Festival was a great success this year and the Arcanum Area Business Association members are all looking forward to an even bigger and better celebration for 2011.
The food, rides, games, petting zoo, craft vendors and entertainment kept George Street busy all week end.
The Little Miss and Mr. Yesteryear was moved to the Tip Tap Toe Dance Studio due to the rain Friday night but proved to be a very successful event. Our first Quilt Show was held Friday and Saturday and was just great. If you missed going, you really missed it. Saturday the weather was beautiful and our new "Miracle Rides Company" was a very busy place.
The parade was bigger and better than ever. Thanks to everyone who participated and for all of the extra volunteers for this special event. Our special entertainment Saturday night was recording artist Austin Hicks. He originates from Northridge School, Clayton, Ohio and has plans to move to Nashville.
Sundays high light was the 27th annual car show. So many cars, so many beautiful trophies! What a day! I would not want to be a judge! Chairman Josh Urlage is already making plans for next year!
I wish to thank all of the Arcanum Area Business Association members that worked so hard and so many hours to make this festival happen. Also thank you to the Arcanum Council for allowing us to have it and providing assisstance with the electric, water, blocking streets, providing a bucket and two men to help with the egg drop and helping to clean everything up so quickly Sunday evening. We are always open for new suggestions and fresh ideas for the future.
The Business Associations goal is to improve our community. We also do a scholarship to a graduating student each year. We strive to bring in more businesses to downtown, beautify, and encourage Arcanum to grow and prosper.
Thanks to everyone for your support,
Judy Fourman, President Arcanum Area Business Association
