4 Darke County school districts will get "Race to the Top" Stimulus Dollars

To the proponents of the program, this is sensible economic stimulus and support of education in tough economic times. To the cynics, this is a government handout targeted to states with close political campaigns right before an election. Which is it? You decide. In any event, the four local districts cashing in are: Ansonia Local, $100,000; Mississinawa Valley Local, $110,734; Tri-Village Local, $100,000; Bradford Exempted Village, $100,000. More details at Dayton Daily News.

  1. Hrmm ... headline says 3 districts, the story lists four. I'm certain the stimulus money won't help previous students learn to count!

  3. of course the only reason greenville didnt get that money was because they dont have a new school building...i am sure we will hear this cry from the school board

  4. Greenville did not apply. $100,000 automatic any district applying if Ohio received funds from federal goverment. Either too much work to complete application, too many "strings", could not get buy in from union, or some combination of these factors.

  5. Did Greenville apply for the stimulus money? Or didn't so they could keep playing to the woes is me card and force voters to vote yes? Every little bit helps and if they didn't, maybe they should have?
