Darke County College Access Program changes name to Bridges to College

The Darke County College Access Program has a new name, Bridges to College.

“We wanted a name that better reflects our mission – helping students achieve a college education through one-on-one advising, educational programs and scholarships,” said Bill LaFramboise, chairman of Bridges to College.

The Darke County College Access Program, a non-profit organization, was established in 2006 by local educators and business leaders who were seeking ways to improve the college-going rate in Darke County .

Since its inception, it has helped hundreds of students in Greenville and Ansonia high schools by educating them about their college options, providing advising, and giving scholarships.

“We will continue to do the educational programs, advising and scholarship programs,” said Beth Sears, executive director of Bridges to College.

“Our board selected the Bridges to College name because it better describes what we do,” Sears continued. “When making a journey, it is easier to go over a bridge rather than through the water. Bridges to College helps high school students’ journey to college easier.”

Bridges to College will continue to provide services to Greenville and Ansonia High School students.

“Our long-term goal continues to be providing services to students in all Darke County high schools,” LaFramboise said.

The Bridges to College program is gearing up for the new school year and making plans for a “You Can Go to College” program for high school students and their parents as well as its one-on-one advising program.

Bridges to College’s office is located in the Media Center at Greenville High School .
