Reported meth lab bust on Euclid Street in Greenville (w/updates)

UPDATE (10/25 @ 4:40 p.m.): one adult female arrested charged with illegal manufacturing of meth. Active meth cook discovered after forced entry by Darke County Drug Task Force Unit and DCSO Clean Lab Unit. No injuries. Assisted by Greenville City Fire Dept, Greenville TWSP Rescue and Greenville PD. A media release will follow.

UPDATE 2 (10/25 @ 5:30 p.m.): the DCSO jail roster shows a 12:05 p.m. arrest of Johna Marie Wood, age 45, at 222 Euclid Avenue, Greenville. ....... and here is Steve Baker's report.

Euclid Street in Greenville has been taped off in the block north of the Penn Street intersection (close to both the junior high and Montessori school). Vehicles from the Greenville Police, the Greenville Fire Department, and the Darke County Sheriff are all present as of 2:00 p.m. Monday. An anonymous tip (proceed with caution) indicates that a meth lab has been identified on Euclid Street in Greenville. The tip further indicates that some neighbors have been evacuated. The evacuation of the neighbors, and presence of the fire department, would corroborate the identification of a meth lab possibly. More details as they are available.

I took this photo this morning as the firemen were knocking on the front apartment.

  3. its just a cold hard fact that if people have no work they will continue to turn to drugs to try and make a living.Do you honestly think the drug problem in this town would be out of control if they was some work around this town?If you do your living a pipe dream.

  4. It's funny 5:25, they can't work and are lazy, but often work harder to get their drugs or to steal or swindle money for the drugs than they would if they just went and got a real legitimate job. Same with the numerous lazy welfare families that are cluttering this city up.

  6. ya no 7:52 i dont know why you and every body else bitches about welfare and metro.True there is a lot of people on it that shouldnt be but they are people out there that really need the help not every body is blessed with a 9 to 5 job that pays good.I my self have never used welfare I dont pay in to it so I dont use it the same with unemployment.I dont pay unemployment taxes so I dont collect it when I dont work.I do agree with the fact that they work harder to get drugs than they do if they had a job but blaming the drug problem on welfare is just wrong blame it on the people that bring it in to this town.If it wasnt here it would be harder to do and get a hold of.Its pretty obvious were it comes from.Maybe the sherriff needs to do a better job at patroling the routes in to this town instead of waiting till someone calls them and tells them there is a meth lab right under there nose.I would like to know how long this lab was operating before they got caught.

  7. People bitch because why should we be forced to pay for someone to pump out kid after kid while they are leeching off actual productive people while on metro and welfare. Go look at the trash that hangs out mid-day at the apartments behind Kmart. Tell me half those abled bodies people couldn't get off their lazy asses and go find a job?

Sorry, but if it was a majority of people with 9-5 jobs who were responsible for bring these drugs in and using them, then they would be blamed, but lets not play the political correct game, and lets be honest.

  9. my 2 cents why is it that when the Sheriff's bust a meth lab you bitch becuase they haven't done enough. I don't know about you but I think that this drug task force has done a great job. I don't think I had any idea it was this bad until these people started kicking butt and taking names. Keep up the good work!!!!

  10. There are people who have good jobs that are drug dealers and drug buyers. You cannot always place the blame on job loss or people on welfare.
People who have a drug problem are no different then a person with an alcohol problem. What is greatly needed in Darke County is the DARE program.

  11. Would be better to just lace some meth with rat poison (about the same stuff anyways, just as deadly), and let the problem handle itself. Plus the taxpayers don't have to pay for garbage like these folks to live on the states dime for the next 10-20 years.

  12. At the 4:00pm comment. Thats real nice!! You are a complete idiot!!!!! What if some of those so called junkies that frequent that place are KIDS that need help??? Its people like you that make this world unbearable. Talk about garbage!!!

  13. "my2cents" is obviously an idiot... hence the grammer, spelling and sentence form mistakes. Go Greenville PD! Now to fing a reason to put "my2cents" behing bars. No tolerance for stupidity.....

  14. The sad thing about drugs is sometimes it is the neighbors you don't notice or talk to. Everyone should take effort to know those around you and your family!

  15. don't you think it's funny how one person got arrested and the other got turned lose. I think I smell something funny. What would you think if this happened to a person you knew and they were at the wrong place at the wrong time, or maybe thinking they were helping out a friend in need. You people need to wake up and quit juding people if you don't know everything that happened.

  16. I agree how can 2 people be setting up the meth lab & only one person gets taken to jail. The second person was not even taken into custody she was let go @ the sean.

  17. How??

Maybe the second person was the informant. She got arrested initially at the scene, and then the prosecutor ordered the police to let her go.

Maybe you should all just chill out until the facts are known

  18. informant must be working off prior crime
