Open Thread: Go Packers!

  1. I have nothing against the Packers but as I was watching the Steelers game last night it occurred to me that if the Steelers win, their kicker, a Greenville resident, would get a SB ring. I think Greenville resident, Matt Light, has three. So, even though I went to GHS, I'm pretty sure that adds up to 4 Super Bowl rings possessed by Greenville residents.

I'd guess there are some fairly large cities that can't boast that--Cincinnati and Cleveland come to mind. ;)

  3. I'm for the Packers all the way. It's just to hard to support a guy that makes millions...who is the next thing to a rapist, and then says "God is good". Uh-huh.
On another note, I can't stand the Bears, but Jay Cutler didn't do himself any favors by riding the bike, standing, and walking around the sideline after "hurting" his knee. Not saying that he isn't hurt, but if that were Peyton, Brady, Brees, Hasselbeck, McNabb, and yes, even Roethlisberger.....he would have gone to the lcker room, had it taped up and PLAYED the game out. Wuss to the max.
    PACKERS-PACKERS-PACKERS!!!!!

  4. Postscript to Jeff. Cutler tore his MCL. Yeah, in this type of game he could have stayed in there....Philip Rivers had the same injury and kept playing. You are exactly right, he's hurt, but if the knee had questions at all the training staff and docs would have taken him to the locker room during the game to evaluate it. To see him riding the bike, standing and milling around the sideline the entire time really does raise questions as to how tough a guy he is AND what kind of medical staff the Bears employ.

  5. 8:38...good points However, that kicker isn't from here (or this area for that matter), and no one knows WHY he "lives" around here in the off season. Would you know him if you saw him strolling down Broadway? Shoot, you didn't mention his name, and I don't know it either! Meh.
Matt Light is from Greenville and does come back here occaisionally for different things. So, only his superbowl rings would "count" in your point.
    GO PACKERS!

  6. Shuan Suisham is Canadian, but attended the best university in Ohio, and then moved here to be closer to his wife's family (who lives in Miami County I think). His wife is also a BGSU Falcon!

  7. i've never been a fan of cutler, but i have a hard time questioning anyone's toughness who does what he does for a living.

also, rivers played a week later after having surgery, but left the game in which the injury occurred.

the only real criticism is why he wasn't still involved in talking to his backups and trying to motivate his teammates.
