The League of Women Voters of Darke County will once again sponsor a Candidates' Forum for the May Primary Special Election on Monday, April 25 from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the American Legion, Ohio Street in Greenville. The event is free and open to the public.
This forum will focus on the contested Primary Election candidates for Greenville City Mayor. Other contested or non-contested candidates for the May Primary or the November General Election may briefly introduce themselves at the beginning of the program. There will be a brief presentation of the Greenville Schools Renewal levy ballot issue at the conclusion of the program.
Voters should know that there is only a Republican Primary in May. There is not a Democratic Primary as there are no contested Democratic candidates on the ballot. Voters when going to the polls may request an “issues only” ballot in lieu of a party declaration. Additionally, Candidates for Darke County Municipal Court Judge will not be on the ballot until the November General Election.
The Greenville City Mayoral Candidates, Mike Bowers and Doug Schmidt, will give two minute introductory speeches. Following that, they will answer questions. The public is encouraged to attend and submit written questions. Questions are then screened by a panel of League members, equally represented from the Democratic and Republican parties. The following candidates are listed in the order that they will appear on the program.
The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization with the major purpose being to inform voters about the candidates and issues. For further information about the League, call Karen Brooks, League Co-President, 467-7845
PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE, TUESDAY, MAY 3.
