Registration is now available for the sixth annual Mandy’s Sunshine 5K Run/Walk to take place Saturday, September 17, in the Greenville City Park. The event will take place in the vicinity of Shelter House 4 on Harmon Drive.
A short opening ceremony will take place at 8:10 a.m. A Children’s Fun Run will follow at 8:20 a.m., with a short run/walk around the Greenville High School Track. Mandy's Sunshine 5K run/walk will start at 8:30 a.m. All ages can participate, and both runners and walkers are welcome.
The cost to participate is $7.00 for the fun run ($2.00 without a t-shirt) and $12.00 for the 5K run/walk. The cost will be more after September 4, and a t-shirt is not guaranteed.

Awards will be presented to the top three men and women overall and the top three in each age group at the conclusion of the race. Door prizes donated generously by local businesses will also be distributed at the end of the race.
Mandy’s Sunshine 5K Walk/Run has been organized by the friends and family of Mandy Green. Mandy passed away on May 10, 2005, after a four-year battle with Wilm’s Tumor, a rare childhood cancer. She was 10 years old.
Proceeds from the Sunshine Run will benefit the Mandy Green Class of 2013 Memorial Scholarship Fund, established at the HOPE Foundation. The fund will provide scholarships to graduating seniors in the year 2013. Her classmates were very supportive and protective of Mandy during her struggle with cancer. The fund was established to reflect and pay back the loving support Mandy received from her classmates and friends.
