  1. Just returned from the gathering. It was wonderful! Reminiscent of what AO days was when it was at the museum grounds. There is a nice selection of food & good entertainment. After seeing the wonderful pics on here I decided to go this morning to beat the heat. A nice selection of vendors with quality items to sell. A couple of the vendors I spoke with said they did very well Saturday & had to restock today! When I signed up for the gift basket, I made sure to state that I heard about it on "Darke Journal".

  2. I was anxious to see "The Gathering" so I went Sat. morning. It was like a flashback of the old days, with the charm of the location, but with a trendy new edge. My dream for the future would be for the the combination of the two festivals downsized, and returned to the original site. I went out to the AO festival on Friday and was very sad that the vendors were far apart, and so few of them. I knew it had outgrown it's old location, but I feel you are on the right track at "The Gathering", and you are offering what today's community wants to see and buy! Congratulations on a job well done. Reminded me of a mini "Country Living Show" they hold at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus, build it and they will come!!!

  5. My wife and I went to the Gathering and loved it. Was very interesting speaking with the people there. We will definitely go back next year. It seems some are just bitter because sales at their junk stands were down. AO Days festival had better get its act together or they will become extinct.

  6. Why can't they do this downtown? block off some side streets and set up there....a street fair of sorts.. You need electric and water for the food places, that's why Garst isn't handy for them. Most people I have talked to won't go to the fairgrounds because they charge to get in. You don't pay to get into Poultry Days or Arcanum Old Fashioned Days! The vendors were so spread out at the fairgrounds, it was ridiculous! Other than the food out there, wasn't much to look at except the junk vendors. I liked the Gathering at Garst. Was a little confused as to why a booth with Longaberger was allowed...if the rest were items made/grown by the artist/vendor. I personally think they should have places selling crafts, etc. too. Would have filled up the spots out there if they would have. Greenville is the county seat. We should be able to put on a really nice festival like Troy does. Combine the two and have it downtown!
