Representative Buchy and Senator Faber to Answer Questions on Issue 2 in Celina

Celina, Ohio- Ohio State Representative Jim Buchy (R-Greenville) will join Ohio State Senator Keith Faber (R-Celina) in addressing local citizens on the merits of Issue 2. The event will begin at 7pm on Tuesday, October 18th at the American Legion in Celina. The forum is being hosted by the Mercer County Liberty Group. Citizens for, against, and undecided on Issue 2 are encouraged to attend the informational meeting and question and answer session.

Issue 2 is a referendum of collective bargaining reforms law passed by the Ohio General Assembly this spring. It will be on the November Ballot. Senator Faber and Representative Buchy both voted in favor of the reforms following a series of town hall meetings across the district where the two law makers listened to area residents and brought their concerns back to Columbus, ultimately impacting the final version of the bill.

Representative Buchy says, “Issue 2 is about jobs. That is the message I have been taking around the state.” If passed the measure is expected to help local governments, schools, and the state manage rising labor costs which has become a struggle with a weak economy and lower tax receipts.

  1. I was at Mr Buchy's spring Town Meeting. He did not listen to anyone. He told us what he thought we should think. He is not interested in our opinions or redirects.

  2. What they don't bring to your attention is that many of the unions have not taken raises recently in recognition of the current economy. They are telling you that they are saving tax payers money, but that is far from true. Ask yourself how much those commercials and such cost the tax payers. Then on top of that they say that the public employees are paid to much and they talk about the pensions and wanting to change them. Did you know that the public employees PAY into the pension programs to receive the pensions, and that is no different than the social security program everyone else is in. However the PERS system isn't handing out money to people who don't work. I guess that is what makes the government think that system is flawed though?!?! Be sure you look at this issue before you vote and look at the public employees and see just how WEALTHY they really are. I don't know how a middle class paying job makes anyone wealthy. I don't know how an average vehicle and an average home makes a public employee who serves his or her community wealthy or any different than what everyone else strives to give their families. It's my opinion that this issue if passed will not give the public less safety and service but will give less satisfaction and experience of the safety and service they receive. I just hope everyone looks at both sides before they hit the polls and make the decision on what they want and what they would like to see the people who provide them safety and service receive for doing the jobs that some people couldn't or wouldn't do no matter what the pay or benefits.

  3. If they answer questions the way they did at the Memorial Hall townhall mtg, well don't believe everything they say. Several of my questions didn't get answered and Mr Faber got a tongue lashing by a teacher when he said this SB 5 bill (issue 2) would rid the educational system of all those people who sit all day. Guess he hasn't been in a classroom for awhile!

  4. No he won't. When he came to talk at Memorial Hall he dodged all the real questions. Read off the cards, skipped peoples questions, said he already answered them. I know for a fact 5 questions that were written on those cards were skipped and not answered. I have lost all respect for you Jim. I hope you get run out of office.

  5. I don't get the statement,"Issue 2 is about jobs." I've thought long and hard about this statement and the only thing I come up with is this, "Issue 2 is about promoting hate, envy and malice about the JOBS of police, fire, teachers and other public workers."
