We are proud to announce that our 4th Annual Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland was a tremendous success! Over 375 lovely luminaries lit the way along the wooded trails of Shawnee Prairie Preserve allowing over 800 people to enjoy a peaceful winter’s night in nature. Along with the walk, the public enjoyed several activities and crafts including visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus’, stringing popcorn and cranberries, decorating gingerbread cookies and making snowmen ornaments. In the Log House samples of mulled cider, apple cake was enjoyed along with some delightful dulcimer music.
Also, we would like to say “Thank You” as this event would not have been possible without the assistance of our Darke County Parks Volunteers. Their assistance was invaluable from helping with the children’s crafts to keeping the 100’s of luminaries lit to being pioneer hosts in the Log House.
We want to thank everyone who came out to enjoy this free family fun event. We hope you will continue to visit and attend programs that “your” Darke County Park District offers. If you missed this year’s Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, December 1, 2012 as the planning has already began!
