The deal requires Whirlpool to create an additional $2.2 million in payroll at the Greenville plant and maintain operations in Greenville for at least 8 years. The company is expected to create 65 full time jobs as a result of the deal.
This, of course, is in the wake of the October announcement that Whirlpool would be cutting approximately 5,000 jobs worldwide due to soft demand and high material costs.
