Updated: Greenville High School Evacuated, 2 Hour Delay Wednesday

Update 2: Greenville Superintendent Susie Riegle let us know that the building was checked by officers yesterday and that it was clear. Police officers were also monitoring the building throughout the night. The two hour delay this morning is in order to allow a canine unit an opportunity to check the building again as an additional precautionary measure.

Update: WHIOtv.com has posted their report on the incident which can be found by clicking here. They are reporting that an unknown male allegedly handed an envelope with a written threat to a student, instructing the student to give it to someone important. The school was put on lockdown at sixth period. Students were evacuated to the football field where they were dismissed at 2:30.

School officials have also issued a 2 hour delay for tomorrow (Wednesday).

Details are few and far between so far, but Greenville High School was evacuated this afternoon, allegedly due to a bomb threat. Students were moved to Harmon Field, where they have since been dismissed. We will post an update when we have more information.

  1. Why was the school put on lockdown instead of being evacuated right away?

  3. duh...otherwise you could call in a bomb thread and sit outside the front door with a machine gun and just wait for everyone to start steaming out of the building. the prey to the hunters... if people are going to cry about how this was handled it would be nice if they would inform themselves first.
