Greenville High School junior Darpan Kaur will take over the reins of Ohio District, Division 3 Lt. Gov. in April, the beginning of the new Key Club International year. She will be replacing retiring Lt. Gov. Natasha Swank.

Ohio District Secretary Mariah Reitz was elected Div. 3 Lt. Gov. for the 2010-11 school year, the first Greenville High School student to serve in a Key Club International office in several decades. Swank was elected to succeed her in 2011, while Reitz was elected to the District Secretary office.

Kaur will be the third GHS student to serve as District 3 Lt. Gov. in as many years. District 3 Key Clubs include Greenville, Troy, Piqua, Miami East, Covington and Tri-Village.

Key Club International, which includes 5,000 clubs in 30 countries, boasts a membership of about 250,000 high school students. It is larger than its sponsoring organization, Kiwanis International, and is the largest student-led community service organization in the world.

Key Club objectives include developing initiative and leadership, providing experience in living and working together, serving school and community and preparing for useful citizenship.
