Bradford Man Holds Up Gas Station for Cigarettes, Arrested Less Than 15 Minutes Later

On April 17, 2012 at approximately 11:29 AM the Darke County Sheriffs Office received a call from Marshall’s Shell gas station located at 9990 US. RT. 36, Bradford reporting a male subject had just robbed the store at knife point. Darke County Deputies immediately responded to the business to investigate. Miami County Sheriffs Deputies were also notified of the armed robbery.

The investigation revealed that the suspect was a frequent customer and known by employees of the business. Darke County and Miami County Sheriffs Deputies located the suspect Harley L. Herron, age 24 at his home in the Village of Bradford. Mr. Herron was taken into custody without incident within 14 minutes of the robbery. Mr. Herron took 5 packs of cigarettes in the robbery and all were recovered. Nothing else was taken during the robbery. Mr. Herron was transported to the Darke County Jail where robbery charges are pending review by the Darke County Prosecuting Attorney.

This case remains under investigation.
