Stolen Property Recovered From Burglaries in Darke County

Sheriff Toby L. Spencer is pleased to announce that a large amount of property that has been stolen from residents in Darke County was recovered on April 16th in Randolph County, Indiana. On April 16, 2012 the Darke County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office on the possible location of stolen property. Darke County Deputies and Randolph County Deputies executed a search warrant at 2320 South 225 East near Winchester, IN. The search resulted in the recovery of over 100 items of stolen property. The majority of the property has been identified as coming from numerous break-ins and burglaries that have occurred in Darke County over the last several weeks. Included in the property recovered are items from break-ins occurring on Harrison Road yesterday and a home invasion burglary last week. Suspects have been developed and those leads are being followed up on. Detectives are hopeful that their efforts will result in multiple indictments and/or arrests.

Even with these recent developments, citizens should continue to remain alert and immediately report all suspicious activity they might observe in their neighborhoods. Several observations by concerned citizens and neighbors were instrumental in solving these cases.

Anyone with information on these cases or other criminal activity should contact the Darke County Sheriff’s Office at (937) 548-3399 or Darke County Crime Stoppers at 937-547-1661.
