ESPN: Matt Light Details Battle with Crohn's Disease

ESPN.com has a profile on the now retired Matt Light that provides a very revealing look at a portion of his life he has kept private for a decade or so. Light suffers from Crohn's disease, which attacks the gastrointestinal system. It had been so bad that in the summer of 2004, he underwent a procedure to have a significant section of his intestine removed.

What to know the true character of Matt Light? He had the procedure done in June, went through a few complications, at least one described as "near death," and still reported to training camp that August.

The story is a great read on the Greenville native and paints the portrait of a very strong (in multiple ways) individual who has worked incredibly hard to achieve what he has, including the ability to walk away from the NFL with his health still intact.
