Special Events at New Madison Library

As a finale to Wee Read for this school year, popular storyteller Mrs. Flutterbutter will entertain children of all ages at the library on Monday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Flutterbutter is lively and fun. Kids will especially enjoy her “larger than life” storybooks on the big screen. This program is free and open to the public.

The library’s circulation and catalog software will be upgraded in early June. The new software will provide a more user-friendly online catalog and more options to interface with smartphones and social media such as Facebook. Unfortunately, there will be some service interruptions during the transition period, but library staff members are working to make the process as easy as possible. Here are some dates to keep in mind: The library will be closed on Wednesday, May 16 so staff can train on the new software. Staff will be unable to issue new cards and the online catalog will not be available from May 31 through June 11. Additionally, library users must present their card in order to check out items from June 4 through June 11. All services should return to normal on June 11. Access to ebooks will not be impacted during the transition.

Due to the software upgrade, this year’s Summer Reading Program will begin a little later than usual. Registration will begin Monday, June 18. In honor of the theme- Dream Big- READ- a pajama party with stories and popcorn will be held that evening at 6:30 p.m. at the library.

Please call 937-996-1741 with questions about any of these events.
