Civil War Encampment

History comes alive as the “Persimmon Regiment”, the 35th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, visits Shawnee Prairie (4267 St. Rt. 502 West) on July 21st and July 22nd. This representation of the regiment will offer demonstrations of their day to day living during the war, the care and firing of their heavy-artillery and the life of a soldier in the Union Army during the Civil War. Demonstrations will occur at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm. The Log House area will be alive with the sights, sounds and smells of the 19th century as the Persimmon Regiment encamps here for the weekend.
