Darke County Parks is looking for volunteers to help celebrate prairies and the pioneer way of life! Do you enjoy helping children or working with the public? If so, this is where you should be!
We need YOU to help with our Prairie Days Festival on Saturday, September 29th (10AM-5PM) and Sunday, September 30th (Noon- 5PM) at Shawnee Prairie Preserve. During these two days, the Friends of the Darke County Parks will be holding their annual PRAIRIE DAYS FESTIVAL. We need your help assisting the public with pioneer activities and crafts (candle dipping, tussie mussies, tin-smithed lanterns, pioneer hats, sewing bean bags and rope making, etc.), setting up exhibits, stirring apple butter, cooking over the hearth in the Log House and lots more! This is a wonderful experience to add to a resume, a way to meet new friends or just enjoy a fun weekend visiting with the public of Darke County. If you are interested in this opportunity please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at lschwieterman@darkecountyparks.org or call the Nature Center at 937.548.0165 and ask to speak with Laura to sign up TODAY!
Not quite sure yet if it is for you? Join us for Prairie Days Workshops on Saturday, September 22; 10AM- 4PM (please RSVP if you are planning on attending a workshop).
For additional information, please check out our website at www.darkecountyparks.org.
Hope to see you soon.
