WHIOtv.com reports that the budget recommendation from the City of Greenville Finance Committee will result in only one position being cut from the fire department, and it will be through attrition. In addition, a position in the street department will be cut, also through attrition.
None of the other proposed cuts will come to fruition either (so no cuts to secretaries, city custodian, etc).
It is also reported that the fire auxiliary will be reinstated and the police department will look into the feasibility of a police auxiliary. In addition, an ad hoc committee will be formed to look into the idea of a joint fire district with the Greenville Township Fire Department.
