Alcohol a Suspected Factor in Single Vehicle Rollover

On October 12, 2012 at approximately 8:37 PM Darke County Deputies along with New Madison Fire, and Tri-Village Rescue, responded to the 3100 block of US RT 127 on a report of a one vehicle roll-over crash with a utility pole knocked down.

Preliminary investigation revealed a green 1994 Dodge Ram truck, driven by 39 year old Bryon L. Shannon, Greenville, Ohio swerved to miss hitting a deer on the roadway causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road then back onto the roadway out of control, traveling off the left side of the road striking and knocking down a utility pole and then rolling over onto its top. The passenger 37 year old Rachel M. Winter, Eaton, Ohio was transported from the scene by Tri-Village Rescue, to the CareFlight landing zone at the Darke County Sheriff's Office where she was airlifted to the Miami Valley Hospital, and listed in critical condition. Bryon L. Shannon was transported to Wayne HealthCare with minor injuries. Alcohol is suspected in this crash.

This accidet remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
