DDN: Darke County Health Providers Help Girl Receive a Prosthetic Leg

The Dayton Daily News has an article today on a young girl from West Africa's Ivory Coast who is now able to walk and run thanks to a new prosthetic leg she received with the help of several Darke County health providers.

Jeanne Kannon, a 7 year old, was born with a deformity in her left leg. Children's Medical Missions West, a charity based in Indiana, brought her to the area to receive care in preparation for, and ultimately receiving, her new leg.

She was treated by Family Health's Dr. Lynne Hawley to become up to date on vaccines and to receive a stable bill of health. Then, according to DDN, "Wayne HealthCare in Greenville donated the facility and staff for the surgery," "Karl Burk, owner of Action Prosthetics in Greenville, fit Kannon for her prosthetic, which provides her with an artificial knee, ankle and foot," and "Therapists at Western Ohio Physical Therapy in Greenville worked with Kannon to help her learn how to walk with the prosthetic."
