DCSO: Robbery Suspect Apprehended

On October 16, 2012 at approximately 2:07 P.M. Darke County Sheriffs Office received a call about a female that had assaulted and stolen an elderly males money at his home. Darke County Deputies located the vehicle the suspect was in and made a traffic stop on the vehicle on US 36 near Crumrine Rd.

The investigation revealed that Julie A. Cockrell, 46, of New Madison entered the home of an elderly acquaintance on Hollansburg Tampico Rd. Ms. Cockrell asked the victim for money and when the victim refused she assaulted him. Ms. Cockrell then took the money by force and fled the scene.

Ms. Cockrell was arrested without incident and transported to the Darke County Jail where she is held without bond. Ms. Cockrell has been charged with Robbery which is a second degree felony.

The victim did not require medical attention.
