Who made the following statement? “How fortunate for leaders that men do not think.”(1)
A. Carl Rove – Republican advisor often referred to in the book ”Bush’s Brain”
B. James Carville- prominent figure in the Democratic Party
C. Adolf Hitler
D. All of the above
All of the above (D) have directly or indirectly reflected this attitude toward the general public. Rove (A) and Carville (B) both have thrived on Machiavellian tactics using whatever tools are at their disposal – however devoid of the truth or ethically corrupt. Only Adolf Hitler (C) - in Nuremberg 1938, whose tyranny cost 11 million lives including those he professed to represent- can be directly attached to such a measured statement: “How fortunate for leaders that men do not think.”
With the recent emergence of campaign messages containing overt lies and fabrications financed by “behind closed doors billionaires”, the honesty and integrity of the candidate should be given heavy consideration. In that regard, both the Columbus Dispatch (2) and the Cleveland Plain Dealer (3) have labeled two out of three of Josh Mandel’s campaign statements as outright lies. As a result, they describe him as the Candidate with “His Pants on Fire”. In sharp contrast, we have Jim Buchy who has been true blue and red in that he works tirelessly for the overall good regardless of party affiliation.
