Two New Employees Announced by State of the Heart Hospice

Two new employees have been hired by State of the Heart Hospice and will work from the agency’s Coldwater office. Katie Heitkamp, of New Bremen, is a new hospice aide for the agency, and Heather Heitkamp of St. Marys, will work as an LPN.

State of the Heart Hospice, with offices in Greenville, Portland and Coldwater, provides care to patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life limiting illness.

Katie Heitkamp has been an STNA for the past two years at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen. “State of the Heart has helped out with my own loved one and have been an amazing help,” she said. “I love the opportunity to provide one on one care with the families seeing how I can help them.” She enjoys spending time with her daughter and family and friends, and going on walks.

Heather Heitkamp has been an LPN for six years and and plans to continue her education to become an RN. She is impressed with hospice caregivers, she said, “and the care that hospice gives family and patients during difficult times.” She and her husband Andy have four children and enjoy watching children engaging in sports activities.
