Don’t Be Left Out: 5k Training Program Offered

Does it feel like everyone but you is participating in a 5k? Here is your chance. For the sixth straight year, the Cancer Kicking Boot Camp will be training people to run/walk a 5k. The program will begin the end of May and end just in time for participants to compete in the Breast Cancer Awareness 5k. Everyone is welcome and no prior training is needed. The cost of the program is nominal and all participants will receive a specially designed T-shirt.

There will be some slight changes this year. The program will still be eight weeks and the trainings will still be held Tuesdays and Thursday evenings at the Greenville High School track and North Park. The program will still have two classes prior to training as in the past. But, the originator of the program, Coy Boroff, will be turning over the training duties to past participants of the program adding new enthusiasm to the program. Also the cost of the program has been lowered to only $15. The registration fee will no longer include entry into the BCA 5k, but participants will be given a discount to enter the race.

So if you ever wanted to compete in a 5k, want to improve your 5k time, or just want to improve your fitness level, please go to www.BCA5k.org and get details on the training. Or simply come to the first meeting on May 17 at Whirpool starting at 6 pm. The meeting is free, but having fun is mandatory!

For more information please email coyboroff@hotmail.com or log onto www.BCA5k.org.
