Darke County Parks Thanks Wayne Industries for Volunteering

Nothing is impossible for the employees of Wayne Industries to tackle! For the past three years, the individuals at Wayne Industries, the Adult Services Program of the DCBDD, have volunteered to help keep the “in-town” Darke County Parks looking nice and safe for the public to visit. They have also assisted in folding our quarterly Nature Notes for the past two years.

Our “in-town” parks include Alice Bish, Prairie Ridge and Tecumseh Point these popular parks are shining bright after these enthusiastic volunteers come with their hand pruners, rakes, shovels, and brooms. They sweep the parking lot, the Greenville Creek Trail black top area, along with trimming, mowing and raking the trails. The individuals also due a fantastic job of removing litter from the parks. While they are Adopting-The-Parks, they take joy in seeing a large variety of spring wildflowers and hearing many bird species.

A huge thanks goes out to all those who assisted (see photo) with scraping and painting the railing at Prairie Ridge. “Your help is greatly valued and needed.” stated Laura Schwieterman, Volunteer Coordinator of Darke County Parks. “Keep up the wonderful job that you have done!”

If you are interested in volunteering or have questions please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Laura Schwieterman at lschwieterman@darkecountyparks.org or 937.548.0165.
