NEW MADISON – First Universalist Church of New Madison is proud to announce Darke County Endowment for the Arts has been chosen to receive all proceeds from the 13th annual Harvest Sounds benefit concert. The event will be presented at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, at the church located at 331 East Washington St., New Madison.
Darke County Endowment for the Arts was established for the purpose of receiving charitable gifts which are invested to produce income benefitting the arts in Darke County. 100% of the Harvest Sounds concert is earmarked for the continuing preservation of beautiful century-old St. Clair Memorial Hall as a performance hall, community center, and Darke County landmark.
Performing at Harvest Sounds will be the TB&J Trio, featuring pianist Terri Fryman, drummer Brad Hare, and Jane Tester on bass. This will be the Trio’s second appearance at Harvest Sounds, returning at the request of audience members.
They are welcomed back to First Universalist as they play familiar show tunes, classical and jazz compositions, including a Celtic medley and Robin Spielberg’s “Walk Between the Raindrops.”
The Melody Line Singers are ten local women who some 30 years ago created a group of like-minded musicians to become a much-loved vocal group accompanied by piano. They sing a wide variety of songs at a wide variety of places – churches, coffee shops, banquets, and private parties. Directed by Marilyn Light and accompanied by pianist Terri Fryman, their second Harvest Sounds appearance will include “Route 66” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
Adding to the day’s fun will be music by First Universalist musicians, some good surprises, and an after-concert reception where you may meet ‘n mingle with the artists and audience while enjoying fall refreshments.
Tickets for Harvest Sounds are still $8, and may be purchased from members of First Universalist, Endowment board members, and at the door the day of performance. There is no charge for students through grade 12. For information about Harvest Sounds or the Endowment, please call 548-2480.
