New Madison - On October 16, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m.Darke County deputies, along with New Madison Fire and Tri-Village rescue were dispatched to SR121 south of John W. Mills Rd. in reference to an accident involving a motorcylce in to a utility pole.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 1983 Honda Goldwing, driven by Charles F. Combs (69) of Greenville, was northbound on SR121. Combs was going around a slight curve and went off the right side of the roadway. When Combs' motorcycle went off the roadway, Combs was ejected from his motorcycle and struck a utility pole. Combs succumbed to his injuries from the accident.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office and the Darke County Coroner's Office. This marks Darke Counties sixth fatal accident of the year.
