S.H.I.N.E. Family Fall Festival

On Sunday, October 27, kids of all shapes and sizes dressed as princesses, hobos, clowns and Supermen will converge on EUM Worship Center for S.H.I.N.E., a community wide alternative to traditional Trick or Treat. S.H.I.N.E. is short for Share His Incredible News Everywhere and is hosted by Children’s Ministry at EUM Church. It’s a great way for kids from all over Darke County to participate in a safe, secure event that not only offers the fun, costumes and candy of a traditional Trick or Treat, but also conveys a great message of faith. This year’s theme is “No Fear Factor.”

The church campus will be transformed into a storytelling arena where kids and their parents will move through 13 different stations. Each station will tell the story of people in the Bible that overcame fear in their lives and the kids will be given candy that represents the story they have just heard. By the time they have moved through all the stations, each child will not only have collected lots of candy, but more importantly, learn about God’s desire for us to be fearless for Him.

EUM will be expanding their festival this year to include more games, activities and inflatables. There will be hay rides, weather permitting, to the pumpkin patch where every kid will pick a pumpkin or gourd and decorate it.


New on stage in the Worship Center this year will be Tom Sparoughs, “The Space Painter” with his amazing juggling act. Tom juggles everything from tic tac candy to bowling balls. Also, new this year is the eccentric storytelling of Mrs. Flutterbutter. She will captivate the children with her unique style of storytelling. No need to wait in line; there are plenty of fun things to do.

The entire community is invited and welcomed. If you have children ages newborn through grade 6, please come and enjoy a free evening of family fun on October 27 at the EUM Church Worship Center on the corner of Sater and Sebring Warner. The festival will open at 4:00 pm with SHINE story stations running from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. There will also be door prizes, free hot chocolate, hot dogs and popcorn.
