Over the past few weeks, I've been encouraged to see so many people in the community taking an interest in the upcoming election of members to the Greenville City Schools Board of Education. Educating our children is one of our most important responsibilities as a community. Therefore, choosing the right candidates to represent the community on the board is a crucial decision.
I was raised in the community of Greenville and my wife Susan and I have chosen to raise our family here. My family attends Bible Fellowship Church, where I currently serve on the deacon board and my wife and I lead the children’s church ministry. I have been active in coaching youth soccer for the past 13 years. I’ve worked as an Information Technology professional for the past 15 years and I am currently a Network Administrator at Midmark. I am committed to using my experiences and abilities to help make sure our school district is a great place to live and raise a family.
As a board member, I would like to develop a better relationship between the school board and the community that it serves. This will only happen through good communication. The board must engage and listen to the citizens of the district and share facts clearly and directly. This will be a key to facing the challenges ahead with changing state requirements and the construction of a new K-8 building. I also believe that there are things that Greenville Schools do well. We need to share those success stories to remind the community that there are reasons to be proud of the schools that we have.
If you have any questions or if you would like to share any concerns, I would like to hear from you. You can contact me by email at brad.gettinger@gmail.com or find me on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/GettingerForSchoolBoard
Thank you, again, for taking in interest in strong Greenville Schools. I ask for your vote on Tuesday November 5th.
