A Wintery First Friday Successfully Spreads Holiday Cheer

So our snowman was a little meager on Friday, but I don't think he's that shameful for a not-quite-three year old being his primary architect...
This past Friday was spent by many waiting for the big snowstorm that was foretold. Snow came in copious amounts, but thankfully the storm didn't live up to the hype that preceeded it. The end result was a blustery and frigid evening that was still benign enough to enjoy another First Friday event in downtown Greenville. This month's theme was appropriately crafted around the holidays, complete with snow covered walkways and Christmas music playing outside up and down Broadway.

My family and I trekked out to see the sights, having dinner at D'Alesios in the Palace before walking down to A&B Coffee and Cake to visit Santa and warm up with some hot chocolate. The weather may have helped keep the line short, but we were able to get in a horse carriage ride up and down Broadway without much wait, which, although bone rattling cold, was simply beautiful. And while there may not have been large crowds waiting for things outside, shops and restaurants up and down the street were packed with folks staying out of the cold and enjoying the events and each other's company.

Afterward our ride, we headed back to the Palace building to hang out at The Coffee Pot to visit with friends. Then a wonderful group of ladies popped in to sing a few Christmas Carols! They were making their rounds up and down Broadway, and if you caught them, you'd know how incredible they sounded together.
