Register Now for West Central Wildlife Habitat Workshop-Woodlands Part 1

CLAYTON, OH A habitat workshop series is being offered to landowners wishing to improve wildlife habitat on their property. The workshop series is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife, ODNR Division of Forestry, Pheasants Forever, Natural Resources Conservation Service, The Ohio State University Extension, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, National Wild Turkey Federation and Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Districts.

The Wildlife Habitat Workshop-Woodlands Part 1 is the latest in the series and will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. The workshop will begin at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC), Adult Education Building located at 6801 Hoke Rd., Clayton, OH 45315. After lunch, participants will then get to experience hands-on education in the field at a nearby farm with woodlands, vernal pools, and more.

The purpose of the workshop series is to offer landowners and wildlife enthusiasts a well-rounded approach to managing their property to establish and maintain wildlife habitat. This woodland workshop will focus on forest ecology and habitat management and will include topics on trees, shrubs, wildflowers, mushrooms, wild turkeys, songbirds, bats, vernal pool wetlands and more.

Landowners that attend this workshop and are in the Ohio Forest Tax Law (OFTL) program will receive 5 hours of landowner education credits.

This event is $10 per person and includes light breakfast refreshments, lunch, and a folder full of reference materials to take home.

All participants must pre-register with the Montgomery Soil &Water Conservation District at (937) 854-7645. The registration deadline for this workshop is April 4th.
