Featured event: The Darke County Visitors Bureau along with The Darke County Parks and The Treaty of Greenville Bicentennial Commission invite you to The Peace and Friendship Summit in commemoration of the bicentennial of the signing of the Second Treaty of Greenville in July of 1814. The Summit begins with a banquet and a grand opening of the Park District's new Tecumseh Room. The Peace and Friendship Summit continues on Friday, July 25 with a grand opening of a bowery in the Park District's Prairie Ridge Meadow. The bowery is a reproduction of the structure under which the second treaty is believed to have been signed on animal skins. Immediately following the bowery opening, an Honor Ceremony will be held with State and Local dignitaries and Tribal representatives presenting wampum belts, and Native American prayer and dancing. The event continues through the weekend with a schedule of demonstrations, speakers, storytellers and re-enactors as the summit merges with "The Gathering at Garst" event on Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27 at Prairie Ridge Meadow across from The Garst Museum. For more information, visit DarkeCountyParks.org.
